LET'S TRY THAT!My style of painting is loose, "wet", and constantly changing. I love the feeling of dropping paint onto the wet paper and allowing what happens to take me to the next step in a very dynamic way. I love paint that moves around and does the unexpected. When you use watercolor, fluid or soft body acrylics, or inks you have to make fast decisions and be courageous. I am constantly excited to say "Let's try that!" whenever I find a new tool, paper, paint, product, or idea! It is all about having fun, and watching to see what happens!

Commissions considered with the understanding that no two paintings are ever exactly alike! That's the fun of it!
WHAT I'VE BEEN UP TO... In September 2021 I organized the Share the Sunshine Project that collected over 407 small paintings to give to each and every worker on the two Covid Wards and the ICU at Kelowna General Hospital! Artists from across the Okanagan worked diligently to create a huge variety of art. We wanted to say thank you to the health care staff at KGH who are working so tirelessly to keep our community alive. There are some wonderful news videos of our event that you can view:

I also have been really thinking about how to combine my love of watercolor with the fun I'm having with acrylics and gouache. This one started as a watercolor on paper. Then high flow acrylic was used to add the shadows using negative painting. Then gouache was used to add background and highlights. I wanted it to appear "strange" as the title is "Deadly Beauties" for the Liars and Lovers show at Lake Country Art Gallery last March 2022. (Sh-sh-sh....all of the plants are "poisonous!"). I'm loving this look using all "water media".
Just finishing up a similar painting for ARTWALK 2022 but this time it is of all edible plants titled "Go ahead...Eat Me!" Come and see me there Sept. 10-11, 2022 |
